Canon and most of others use PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) to transfer photos from camera to computer. PTP does not allow you to transfer files from computer to camera by design.
As others mentioned here, it is absolutely a wrong tool to use an expensive camera instead of an inexpensive card reader you can buy in US for around $10.
