Canon's Standard Picture Style is based on Neutral rather than Faithful, but it adds significant amounts of sharpening, contrast and saturation in order to make an image that the company describes as "Vivid and Crisp." The objective is to reduce or eliminate the need for post-processing of in-camera JPEGs prior to printing. However, the Standard setting is sometimes too "Vivid and Crisp" for my taste, so I tend to select Neutral as my personal "Standard."
