My Canon 5D had two hot pixels areas. Both visible in daylight photos (shutter times 1/60 to 1/250), ASA values around 400. A blue and red spot (diameter 15-20 pixels) were visible against dark objects. There were also other smaller hot pixel spots visible when the images were magnified more. The two big spots were noticed first when I looked at the images on the computer screen with 67% magnification.

My 5D also had a problem with one of the viewfinder focusing marks. One of the marks was only partly lit.

My camera went to the repair workshop. As the workshop couldn´t keep the repair schedule, I returned the whole camera to the dealer. The camera was brand new.

Another fellow I met had a problem with too much display information being lit in the viewfinder simultaneously. Also his new camera went to repair.

I have had four digital SLR cameras. The 5D was the most expensive one - and the only one which had defects.

I believe the sensor hadn´t been checked at the factory. Perhaps all the sensors made go to cameras and bad ones are not picked aside. And also all the cameras made go to the stores - without quality control measures being applied. The problems in my 5D would have been so easy to detect!

This is not OK. If I pay 3000 euros for a camera (2000 euros of that being sensor price), I would expect some quality assurance.
