The adapter for Nikon has the chip originally mounted, so there is no necessity to DIY work. The only activity required is to program the chip, and Cichy does it by himself. The chip confirms focus only in good and medium light. While testing I was unable to get confirmation in ambient light about 1/50th, 2.8 iso1600, so if you are planning to use this lens in so hard conditions, you must be ready to MF through viewfinder or on LiveView.

It is possible to focus on infinity. As far as I know, reversed case (Canon lenses on Nikon body) is problematic.

We (I ) advise you to buy the Nikon + adapter version as it is more reliable (DIY gluing almost always gives worse results than originally manufactured product) - small amount of money spent on the AF confirmation could be very handy in many situations.
