Remember earlier we said that the 350D's default parameter set (Parameter 1) has both its sharpening and saturation parameter at +1. This will affect noise as well as color noise more visibly. From the images above, we can see that noise was very well controlled from ISO 100 to 400. At ISO 100 and 200, images were incredibly clean and smooth. True, there was a bit of noise in ISO 400, but it was hardly discernable. Going up to ISO 800 saw an increase in noise (color noise too), but on the whole, it was still not too bad if you are not going to blow up your images too big. Noise was apparent at ISO 1600 (the default sharpening value definitely played a part). Dropping the sharpening value (or simply choose the more neutral Parameter 2) should help resolve the situation a little. Still, we would say that images shot at ISO 1600 were generally usable - though you may want to do some post-processing first.
