I have this lens that I use on a EOS RP and while the image is sharp, I notice it slow to focus and sometimes you end up missing the shot because of that. I also notice some hunting that again makes you lose the shot.

The RP might have some influence on how slow the lens is to focus and the hunting, but when I was using the Tamron 100-400 on my old 200D it was behaving better than on the RP.

I have the Tap-In console and the firmware on the lens is updated.

While is a cheap lens with good image quality, I'm considering selling mine and buy the Canon EF equivalent or even spend some more and go with the RF 100-500.

I have the canon eos r and tamron 100-400mm. Very happy with the lense. Had the Canon 100-400mm mark I. Hated how heavy the Canon was. The Tamron is much more joy to carry around. I too have bad back. Purchased the Canon 85mm f2 macro yesterday. Chose it over a used canon 100mm f2.8L cause of the lighter weight and better IS.

Probably better to go with a canon 100-400mm mark I. The Tamron focus slower.

Sold my EOS R and purchased the EOS R6. The Tamron 100-400mm works great.

So my RF adapter finally arrived today and I quickly tested the Tamron 100-400mm on it and wow, it’s like a completely different lens compared to on the M5!

AF wise I noticed it would bunt quite a bit on the M5 if I was going from close to infinity but on the R6 it’s lightning fast! It’s also significantly sharper on the R6, even at slower shutter speeds than what I would use on the M5. This makes me think the IBIS on the R6 is really good!

I honestly struggled using the Tamron and the M5 yesterday due to the EVF blackout and the really small buffer. Despite all that, I managed to get this

I can’t wait to get out and use it once summer is done haha.
