In the review it says, "Single autofocus operations can be triggered before or during movie recording by half-pressing the shutter button or pressing the AF-ON button"

This is actually a bit misleading. I called Canon for clarification. During the video if you wnat to re-focus, you actually have to hold in the AF-ON button while the camera hunts for focus. When the central box turns green, focus has been achieved and you can let go of the AF-ON button. I tested this and that is in fact how it works. Just "pressing" the AF-ON button isn't quite enough to get the job done, you have to hold it in.
