My lens started making a rattling noise, i could also see the focus element moving when i looked in the front of the lens and gently shook it. I pulled the rubber focus grip back and turned the focus ring until the screws showed in the hole. There are 3 screws spaced a 3rd of the way round and they should have a plastic tube covering them but on mine 2 out of the 3 tubes had fallen out allowing the lens element to rattle about. i located one of the missing tubes by turning the focus ring until i could see it through the hole. I couldn't see the other one though so had to take the front cover off and locate it that way. Once i had them i slotted them onto a screwdriver then located the screwdriver in the screw head and slid the tube down onto the screw. No more rattles!
