Expodisc â An essential tool for a wedding photographer then?
So thatâs it then right? Everyone should get one! WellâŚâŚnot quite. Due to the way the product works, it absolutely does a great job of getting the correct white balance for that particular scene. But as the modern wedding photographer will know, weddings are fast paced and dynamic. We often donât have time to keep taking a new reading each time we move. I used it when taking photographs at a wedding in Nottingham recently and found that even small movements within a room produced different results. That just meant I still had to spend time in post production correcting white balance!
If you are a photojournalist and are chasing kids around a reception then iâd say stick to AWB. Where it may come in handy is during formal portraits. In fact as I mentioned, I will definitely be using my Expodisc at the studio tomorrow since the lighting will be very consistent.
